Ireland is the European lane we run most often, and the one where the timetable is genuinely in our favour: the crossing is short, the sailings are frequent, and a consignment collected in the UK can often be delivered in Dublin the next day.

The word doing the work in that sentence is often. An Irish delivery is tied to a sailing, and a sailing is tied to the weather and the schedule. Tell us the deadline when you book and we will plan the run backwards from it — including which port and which crossing give it the most room.

Where we deliver in Ireland

Most of our Irish work lands in Dublin, and most of the rest in Cork, Galway and Limerick. Those four are the runs we know sailing by sailing — but a dedicated vehicle is not restricted to them, so if your delivery address is a town we have not named, the answer is almost certainly still yes.

  • Dublin — the most frequent run, straight off the Holyhead crossing
  • Cork — via Dublin or the Rosslare crossings from South Wales
  • Galway — cross-country from Dublin Port
  • Limerick and the Shannon region

Transit times and sailings

Ireland is the one European destination where next-day is still often realistic, because the road mileage is modest and the crossings are short and frequent. The main corridor is Holyhead to Dublin — around three and a quarter hours at sea, with multiple sailings a day.

What we will not do is promise a sailing we do not control. If a crossing is delayed or cancelled, the consignment moves on the next one — and because we track the vehicle throughout, you will know before it becomes your problem. If the delivery has to be there on a specific day, say so when you book.

Dedicated or groupage to Ireland

A dedicated run means your goods travel alone: collected anywhere in the UK, driven to the port, across on the next available sailing and direct to the delivery address. It is the fastest option and the right one for anything urgent, fragile or high-value.

Groupage costs considerably less and suits consignments where a day either side is not critical. If you are unsure which fits, tell us the deadline and the contents and we will tell you honestly which one to book.

Customs and paperwork

Ireland is an EU member state, so goods moving from Great Britain need export and import declarations — this is the procedure that ended the old collect-in-the-afternoon, deliver-next-morning certainty across Europe.

The single most useful thing you can do is book early and tell us exactly what is being shipped. That lets us start the paperwork before the vehicle moves, which is what protects the sailing your delivery is planned around.

Collection anywhere in the UK

We are based in Northamptonshire, on the A45 between the M1 and the A14, and we collect nationwide — so an Irish delivery can start from any UK address. From our base, the run to Holyhead is a straightforward motorway leg, which is one reason Dublin is often achievable next-day.

FAQ

Good to know.

Anything not covered here, call us — a specialist picks up, not a call queue.

How long does delivery to Ireland take?

Often next-day to Dublin, and the rest of the country typically a day behind — but every Irish run is tied to a sailing, so we will not promise a schedule we do not control. Tell us your deadline when you book and we will tell you honestly whether it is achievable.

Which Irish cities do you deliver to?

Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick are the regular runs, but a dedicated vehicle can deliver anywhere in Ireland — the four cities are where the work usually goes, not a limit.

Do I need customs paperwork for Ireland?

Yes — Ireland is in the EU, so goods from Great Britain need export and import declarations. Book early and tell us exactly what is being shipped and we will start the paperwork before the vehicle moves.

Can you collect from anywhere in the UK?

Yes. We are based in Northamptonshire and collect nationwide, so an Irish delivery can start from any UK address.

How do I get a price?

Call 01604 698237 or email sales@tlxgroup.co.uk. Tell us the collection and delivery addresses, what you are sending and when it needs to arrive.
