Why the handover count matters

On a shared network a consignment is loaded, trunked, unloaded, sorted, reloaded and trunked again. Every one of those steps is a door opening and a period out of a controlled environment — and the further down the network it goes, the harder it is to evidence what happened.

A dedicated vehicle has no handovers at all. That makes the cold chain simple to maintain and simple to demonstrate afterwards, which matters as much as the delivery itself when the consignment is regulated.
