Temperature Controlled Transport in Birmingham
Chilled and refrigerated consignments across Birmingham and the West Midlands
Birmingham is a hard city to run chilled work through, and the reason is the road network rather than the distance. The M6 through the city is one of the busiest stretches of motorway in Britain, and a refrigerated consignment stuck in it on a multi-drop round is spending hours it did not budget for.
We run Birmingham temperature-controlled work as a dedicated job: one vehicle, one driver, loaded once and driven direct. No hub, no sortation, and no other customer’s drops between your collection and your delivery.
The Midlands food trade
Birmingham has one of the largest wholesale food markets in the country, and a dense concentration of food production, catering and hospitality supply around it. That is where most of our chilled work in the city starts — refrigerated collections from producers and wholesalers, delivered out to retail, restaurants and events across the West Midlands and beyond.
The other half is industrial and clinical: pharmaceutical stock between sites, laboratory samples, and ambient-sensitive components that must not be allowed to overheat in a trailer.
Getting in and out of the city
Birmingham sits inside the M6, M42 and M5 box, which means a temperature-controlled run into or out of the city is really a question of which approach is moving. A dedicated vehicle can be routed around a problem; a consignment already committed to a network trunk cannot.
We are based in Northamptonshire on the A45 between the M1 and the A14, so Birmingham is a straightforward run for us — and where a collection is better served locally, it goes on a vehicle already in the West Midlands.
How the vehicle is sourced
Temperature-controlled capacity comes from vetted carriers in our network, chosen for the consignment and dispatched by us. Whoever drives it, one company plans the job, holds the booking and answers for it through to proof of delivery — you deal with the same office throughout.
